Measuring for Lining a Box
1) Measure the width, depth and height of the box to be lined. The depth should be the shorter side.
2) To determine the Width (W) of the bag, add 1” to the width of the box.
3) To determine the Depth (D) of the bag, add 1” to the depth of the box.
4) The Length (L) of the bag is determined by adding the depth plus 1” to the height plus 1”. Add another 5” to allow coverage of the box contents.
Example: If the box size is 18” (wide) x 12” (deep) x 14” (high), the bag dimensions are as follows: Width (W) is 19” Depth (D) is 13” Length (L) is 33”
Measuring for a Pallet Cover
1) Measure the width, depth and height of the pallet to be covered. The depth should be the shorter side.
2) To determine the Width (W) of the cover, add 1”-2” to the width of the pallet.
3) To determine the Depth (D) of the cover, add 1”-2” to the depth of the pallet.
4) The Length (L) of the cover is determined by adding _ of the depth to the height.
Example: If the pallet size is 40” (wide) x 36” (deep) x 50” (high), the cover dimensions are as follows: Width (W) is 42” Depth (D) is 38” Length (L) is 68”
Measuring for a Round Container
1) Measure the diameter and height of the container to be lined.
2) To determine the Circumference (C) of the container, multiply the diameter by 3.14.
3) To determine the Width (W) of the bag, divide the Circumference (C) by 2. Add 1” for a looser fit.
4) To determine the Length (L) of the bag, add the diameter to the height. Add 5” for overhang. Example: If the container size is 12” (diameter) x 30” (height), the bag dimensions are as follows: Width (W) is 20” Length (L) is 47”
Measuring for a Square Container
1) Measure the width, depth and height of the container to be lined. The depth should be the shorter side.
2) To determine the Width (W) of the bag, add the width and depth. Add 2” for a looser fit.
3) To determine the Length (L) of the bag, add _ the depth to the height. Add 5” for overhang.
Example: If the container size is 14” (wide) x 10” (deep) x 32” (high), the bag dimensions are as follows: Width (W) is 26” length (L) is 42”
How to Measure Reclosable Bags
When measuring a reclosable bag, the dimensions are always based on the outside dimensions from side to side and from the bottom of the zipper to the bottom of the bag. The length does not include an approximately _” lip above the zipper. * Because of manufacturing variables, the actual size may vary +/- _” in the length or width.
How to Measure for Gusseted Bags
Gusseted Bags:
The length and width of gusseted bags are measured just like poly bags, by outside dimensions side to side and from top to bottom. The gusset is measured by its expansion diameter (D).
For Covers:
Add approximately 4” to either width (W) or depth (D) for a loose fit.
For length (L) and half of depth (D) to actual length.
Example:
(W) 46” + 4” = 50”
(D) 49” = 49”
(L) 50” + 25” = 75”
Size to Order:
50”x 49” x75”
For an Inner Liner:
Use the same procedure as above for width and depth. For length, add all of depth (D) to actual length plus 4″ to 6″ for overlapping the ends of the liner. Add 10″ to 12″ if you plan to tie off bag.
Example:
(W) 46″ + 4″ = 50″
(D) 49″ = 49″
(L) 50″ + 49″ = 99″
Size to Order:
50″ x 49″ x 99″
How to Measure for Liners
WIDTH:
Take the circumference of the container and divide by 2. For a looser fit, add 1”-2” to this number for the flat width of the bag. For a gusseted bag, the width plus the depth (or gusset) will equal the flat width of the bag. For example, a 16” x 14” x 36” is the same as a 30” x 36” bag.
OVERHANG LENGTH:
Measure the container height and add _ the diameter plus 4” for overhang. This will be your overall length.
TIE-OFF LENGTH:
If you are planning to tie the bag off after use, add the full diameter plus 4″ to the overall height. This will be your overall length.
